This auspicious day is celebrated with great devotion as the appearance day of Goddess Gayatri, who is revered as the Mother of the Vedas. 

At the beginning of creation, Lord Brahma had explained the Gayatri Mantra in the four Vedas through his four mouths and had invoked Gayatri Mata.

That's why Gayatri Mata appeared pleased. When Gayatri Mata had incarnated, it was the full moon day of Shravan month . His birthday is celebrated as Gayatri Jayanti.

Gayatri is knowledge, she is the Veda, that is why she is called the mother of the Vedas. Maa Gayatri was already there but she was never seen. To see Maa Gayatri, to invoke her, to please her, Vishwamitra created Gayatri Mantra.

Form of Maa Gayatri 

According to religious stories, Mother Gayatri is a very important goddess. She is composed of three gods: Brahma , Vishnu and Mahesh , and people worship her in this form.

Mother Gayatri has five faces and ten hands. Her four faces represent the four Vedas , and her fifth face is a symbol of power. Her ten hands are symbols of Lord Vishnu. Mother Gayatri is also called the wife of Lord Brahma.

It is said that Gayatri Mantra came from the mouth of Brahma when the world was created. With the blessings of Mother Gayatri, Brahma explained the Gayatri Mantra in the Vedas.

Earlier only gods knew about Maa Gayatri , But a wise sage named Vishwamitra performed great penance and told everyone about the glory of Gayatri Mantra.

Maa Gayatri’s marriage

Once upon a time , Brahma was the creator of the world. They wanted to perform the yagya ceremony. It was necessary for Brahma to be accompanied by his wife Savitri in this ceremony .

But his wife was not present there for some reason and the time of the ceremony was approaching. Brahma ji did not want to leave the ceremony incomplete.

To complete the Yagya , Brahma gave the place of his wife to Maa Gayatri , who was present there at that time, and performed the Yagya ceremony. Besides, Maa Gayatri is also the factor of origin of this world.

Meaning of Gayatri Mantra

We meditate on the embodiment of Truth, Consciousness, Bliss, the Creator and the luminous God, that famous and precious radiance, the God who inspires our intellect towards the truth.

Who can chant Gayatri Mantra?

In earlier times, Gayatri Mantra was chanted only by those who were Veda readers . According to changing times, now everyone can chant Gayatri Mantra.

While chanting, you can use Rudraksha rosary or even if not, you can chant Gayatri Mantra.

The Guru Mantra that is given to children who become blessed with Yagya through Sanskar at the age of 5 or 7 is Gayatri Mantra only. Chanting this mantra regularly helps in developing the intelligence of the disciples.

Benefits of chanting Gayatri Mantra

By chanting Gayatri Mantra one gets relief from all kinds of troubles and attains mental peace. The person who chants Gayatri Mantra methodically.

He gets Kamdhenu. Kamadhenu gives the desired results. By fasting the person does not go on the wrong path.

His intellect starts being inspired towards truth. But the person should fully understand the meaning of Gayatri Mantra and imbibe it in his heart.

Method of chanting Gayatri Mantra

You can chant this mantra every day after performing your daily rituals and worshiping your deity. First you should invoke Maheshwari Veda Mata Gayatri with the mantra ‘Ayatu Varada Devi’.

After this, do Pranayama three times, one should regularly chant Gayatri with Pranav one thousand or five hundred or one hundred and eight times while sitting or standing. Chanting should be done with one of these three methods only.

After offering Arghya to the Sun and worshiping him, saying 'Uttame Shikhare Devi', after immersing the Mother Goddess, one should greet Vedamata Maheshwari Gayatri and pray to the Sun with folded hands.

Precautions
