The Best Namkaran Muhurat must be free from certain astrological defects and should follow the five main components of the Panchang (Tithi, Day, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana):

• Day (Vaar): Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday are considered the best days for naming. Saturday should be avoided due to the influence of Saturn, and Tuesday is considered aggressive.
• Tithi: Dwitiya, Tritiya, Panchami, Saptami, Dashami, Ekadashi, and Trayodashi are very auspicious. Chaturthi, Navami, and Chaturdashi (Rikta Tithis) are forbidden for auspicious rituals.

• Rikta Tithis: Chaturthi, Navami, and Chaturdashi.

To keep the Hindu Naming Ceremony Time completely free from defects, the naming ceremony should not be performed during these periods:

• Janma Nakshatra: Do not perform the naming ceremony under the same Nakshatra in which the child was born.
• Eclipse Period: No auspicious ritual should be performed during solar or lunar eclipses.
• Sutak Period: For 10 days after birth, the mother and baby remain in Sutak; during this period, Namkaran Sanskar is not performed.
