The Significance of Kamika Ekadashi in the month of Shravan during the dark fortnight
Yudhishthira asked Lord Krishna - Govind, which Ekadashi falls in the dark fortnight of Shravan month? Please describe its significance.
Lord Shri Krishna replied - Rajan, listen, I will tell you a story that destroys sins, which was narrated by Lord Brahma to Narada in ancient times upon his inquiry."
Narada asked, Kamalasana! I want to hear from you that what is the name of Ekadashi which occurs in Krishna Paksha of Shravan, which are its deities and what virtue is achieved by it? Lord! Tell me all this.
Brahma replied, "Narada, Listen- I am answering your question for the welfare of the entire people. The Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha in the month of Shravan is named Kamika; By merely remembering him one gets the results of Vajpayee Yagya, on that day God should be worshiped with names like Shridhar, Hari, Vishnu, Madhav and Madhusudan etc.
The results obtained from worshiping Lord Shri Krishna are not available even in Ganga, Kashi, Naimisharanya and Pushkar areas.
The same result that is obtained by bathing in Godavari when Jupiter is in Leo and in Vyatipat and Dandayoga, the same result is obtained by worshiping Lord Shri Krishna.
The one who donates the entire earth including sea and forests and the one who observes fast on Kamika Ekadashi, both are considered to be entitled to equal results.
The person who donates a calved cow along with other things gets the same results as the one who observes the fast of Kamika. The man who worships Lord Sridhar in the month of Shravan, the entire deities including Gandharvas and Nagas are worshiped by him; Therefore, sinful people should try their best and worship Shri Hari on the day of Kamika.
Kamika's fast is the best way to save the world which is drowning in the ocean of sinful filth. The fruit that people who are devoted to spirituality get; The one who observes the fast of Kamika gets much more results than that. A person who observes the fast of Kamika, after staying awake at night, neither sees the terrible Yamraj nor falls into misery.
Even after being worshiped with red, gem, pearl, vaidurya, and coral etc., Lord Vishnu is not satisfied like he is when he is worshiped by the Tulsi group, which has worshiped Shri Keshav with the leaves of Tulsi;
The sins of their entire birth are definitely destroyed. Which, on seeing, destroys all the sins of the community, on touching, purifies the body, on salutation, cures diseases, on watering with water, scares even Yamraj, on applying, brings closeness to Lord Shri Krishna. Salutations to Tulsi Devi.
Even Chitragupta does not know the number of virtues of a person who donates lamps day and night on Ekadashi.
The one whose lamp is lit in front of Lord Shri Krishna on the day of Ekadashi, his ancestors stay in heaven and are satisfied by drinking nectar. After lighting a lamp in front of God with ghee or sesame oil, a person goes to heaven after leaving his body, worshiped by millions of lamps.
Worship method of Kamika Ekadashi
Brahma ji said to Narad ji – Rajendra! Listen, I will tell you the auspicious method of this fast, take bath in the morning with a devotional mind on the auspicious day of Dashami in the Krishna Paksha of Shravan month. Then, after taking bath in the afternoon, concentrate your mind, eat at one time and sleep on the floor at night. At the end of the night, when there is a clear morning, do your daily rituals and take bath on the day of Ekadashi. After this, follow the rule of fasting by reciting the following mantra with devotion-
Adya sthitva niraharah sarvabhogavivarjitah.
Shvo Bhokshaye Bhavachyut in Pundarikaksha Sharanam.
'"O lotus-eyed Lord, Narayana! Today, I will separate myself from all pleasures and remain without food, and tomorrow I will eat. Achyuta! Please shelter me." After making this vow, worship the Shaligram stone with proper rituals, offer donations to Brahmins, and arrange for their meals.
Then, in the night, worship Lord Hari Kesha (another name for Lord Vishnu) with incense and fragrances, staying awake near Him. After that, on the morning of Dwadashi (the twelfth day), once again worship Lord Hari with devotion.
