1. Take a bath in the morning and wear clean clothes. If possible, wear yellow or red clothes, as these colors represent the Goddess and good fortune.

2. Sit facing the east in a quiet place. Use a mat for sitting—kusha grass mat is considered the best.

3. Place an idol or picture of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati in front of you, with their faces towards the east or north. Offer red flowers, rice grains, vermilion, sandalwood, incense, lamp, and food to the Goddess.
