Life of Madhvacharya
Madhvacharya was a great Indian philosopher and religious preacher. He was born in Shivalli village, Udupi, Karnataka in 1238 AD. Madhvacharya's real name was Vasudev, but he gained fame as 'Madhvacharya' after his Acharya. His mother's name was Mrs. Vedavathi and his father's name was Shri Narayan Bhatt.
Vasudev had great interest in spirituality since childhood. He was born with very deep spiritual knowledge and was interested in meditation, penance, and religious studies since childhood. Madhvacharya ji understood the various ideologies of Sanatan Dharma and tried to convey those ideas to the people. Madhvacharya ji wrote many works on Upanishads and Veda sutras. He had established many monasteries in India. These places are still considered very famous and sacred. Many people were given knowledge of religion. Madhvacharya ji is the incarnation of Vayudev. Madhvacharya ji has given a very interesting explanation of Brahmasutra.
He completed his primary education and then engaged in deep study of Vedanta. He learned the interpretation of Vedanta from Acharya Achyutapreksha and became his disciple.
Madhvacharya expressed his special affection towards the Vedas during his life and did the work of writing the commentary on the Vedas. He presented the philosophy of Vedanta in the form of dualism and gave details of Brahma Sutra in his commentary.
Initial stream of dualism
• Dualism is an important idea of philosophical ideology. Dualism means acceptance of more than one opinion. The work of bringing dualism philosophy to everyone and expanding it was done by Madhvacharya ji. Madhvacharya adopted 'Dualism', according to which Vishnu is the Supreme Soul but there is a difference with Brahma, that is, both Supreme Soul and Soul are different. He is also called Tatva Gyanata because he explained dualism by explaining Tatva. According to Madhvacharya, every God and soul is different in the same way as a fierce human being and a normal human being. Thus, Madhvacharya ji has given the following points to explain dualism completely: -
• Divine: According to them, God is eternal, qualityless, formless, and omnipotent. He is the most exalted and unique. Dualism is one of the most popular ideologies in philosophy. In this ideology, God has been described as all-pervading.
• Soul:The soul, that is, all of us, are separate and distinct souls from the Supreme Soul. The soul becomes separated from the Supreme Soul due to Maya and through enlightenment man can achieve unity with the Supreme Soul.
• Maya: According to Madhvacharya, Maya is the power of God, due to which difference arises between the soul and the God. Maya is the mother of the world and the soul should become free from Maya and attain God.
• Worship: According to Madhvacharya, the soul attains salvation through worship and devotion of God. He emphasized the importance of devotion to the Lord and promoted the principle of the soul achieving unity with the Supreme Soul through devotion to the Lord.
Giving importance to devotion to God: Madhvacharya considered devotion to God very important and encouraged the important journey of self-realization towards God through devotion.
Social reform based on devotion to God: Madhvacharya raised his voice to stop animal sacrifice in Yagyas, which started a social reform against animal sacrifice in Indian society. Madhavacharya ji has worked to improve the society on the basis of the following points:-
Establishment of the temple:Madhvacharya established the Sri Krishna Temple in Udupi, which became an important pilgrimage site for his followers. Through this temple devotion to God was promoted and people were mobilized in the devotion of God.
• Propagation of Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads: Madhvacharya propagated the scriptures of Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads and tried to spread their teachings among the people.
• Teaching of disciples: Madhvacharya gave higher education to his disciples and made them preachers of devotion to God and religious knowledge. His disciples also became part of the campaign to promote devotion to God.
Achievements and Acknowledgments: Along with his philosophical and religious contributions, Madhvacharya inspired the Indian society towards religious and social reforms. As a result of the texts written by him and the work of his disciples, he is one of the important people in Indian religious history. Texts written by Madhvacharya such as 'Sumadhvavijaya' and 'Manimanjari' help in understanding the basic principles of Madhva philosophy.

The main reason for Madhavacharya Jayanti is to remember his important religious and philosophical contributions and to commemorate his life and thoughts. This birth anniversary is celebrated on his birth date and provides an opportunity to remember his religious views.

He developed devotion to God as the major religious innovation and praised the path of devotion for the liberation of the soul.
