Therefore this day is celebrated as Varaha Jayanti. On this day, Shri Hari is worshiped in the Varaha form and Chant Geeta in the temples. Fasting on this day brings happiness and prosperity in the house and gives relief from all the troubles of life.
Story of Varaha Avatar
When Brahma ji thought of the origin of human beings on earth for the creation of the universe, he ordered his son Swayambhuva Manu and his wife Shatarupa to increase human life on earth. Manu always followed the orders of his father Brahma ji. Maharaj Manu considered Brahma Ji's order as supreme and get ready for the origin and expansion of human life on earth. He bowed to Brahma Ji and received his blessings, but a doubt occurs in the mind of Maharaj Manu, so to eliminate the doubt in his mind, Maharaj Manu asked Brahma Ji that, you gave us the task of creation of the universe, but tell me, where our future people will live because due to the cataclysm the entire earth has been drenched with water.
Maharaj Manu's suspicion was very good, hence when Brahma ji saw that the entire earth is drenched in water, he started worrying that if the earth remains drenched in water like this, then how will human life expand on earth ?
Concerned about the creation of the universe, Lord Brahma was thinking of various solutions for the rreformation of the earth then he remembered Shri Hari in such difficult times. Brahma ji started thinking that only Shri Hari can do in such a difficult task.
As soon as Brahma ji remembered Shri Hari, Vishnu ji incarnated from Brahma ji's nostrils in the form of a baby boar, size of a thumb. Before Lord Brahma could understand anything, the baby Varaha immediately became so big like an elephant. Seeing the huge figure of the Varaha baby, all the sages and deities were astonished and started thinking in various ways that which divine creature has appeared here today in the form of a boar ?
Deities, sages and Lord Brahma were so worried, by seeing this the Shri Hari took the form of a mountain and roared so fiercely that it echoed in all directions. Seeing the roar of Shri Hari, all the deites and sages became happy.
The shape of the body of Lord Varaha was like a mountain and was extremely hard, he also have hard hair on the skin, white beard and luster emanating from the eyes.
Seeing this form of Lord Varaha, all the Deities, sages and Lord Brahma himself praised him and asked him to save the earth. Pleased with all the sages and Lord Brahma, Shri Hari roared again and agreed and jumped towards the sky with great speed and started tearing the clouds with the blow of his hooves by the hairs on his neck. This incarnation of God was of a boar; hence he was searching for the earth here and there by sniffing with his nose. At last, Lord Varaha entered the water sniffing to find the earth. When Lord Varaha, whose shape is like a mountain, entered into the water with a great speed created a terrible sound in the water, similar to the thunder of clouds. The speed of the Lord's entry into the water was so intense that terrible and monstrous pits were formed and when Lord Varaha lifted the submerged earth in his mouth, monstrous pits were formed around the earth. Due to this, the water level went down and the earth came above the water. At the time when Lord Varaha was lifting the earth upwards with his mouth, Hiranyaksha attacked the Lord with his mace inside the water, this made him extremely angry and immediately Lord Varah killed Hiranyaksha with his Leela. In this way, by placing the earth brought by the play on the water, Shri Hari disappeared.
After this, Manu and Shatarupa created the ccommunity by producing children similar to their own qualities and also started worshiping Shri Hari by performing yagya etc.
