On the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month, Mother Parvati took the form of Annapurna Mata. Annapurna means the goddess who makes food perfect. Therefore, this day is celebrated as Annapurna Jayanti. By fasting on this day, worshiping and donating etc., there will never be shortage of food even in times of crisis.

On the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month, Mata Parvati took the form of Annapurna Mata. Therefore, this day is celebrated as Annapurna Jayanti. By fasting on this day, worshiping and donating etc., there is never any shortage of food even in times of crisis. Annapurna is Mata Parvati. Therefore, Mata Parvati and Lord Shankar are worshiped on this day. Annapurna Mata fulfills all the wishes of her devotees. By the grace of mother, all the problems in the house are destroyed. A son is born. Poverty is destroyed. There is never a shortage of food.

Once upon a time there was a drought all over the earth. Not a single grain of food was visible anywhere. All the humans were dying of hunger. All the deities prayed to Lord Shankar to prevent the existence of food in the universe. Shankar ji said to Mata Parvati ji, now only you can save these humans dying of hunger. Then Mata Parvati took the form of Annapurna and Lord Shankar took the form of a beggar and took food from her and distributed it to the people of the entire earth. When Mata Parvati took the form of Annapurna Mata, that time was the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month. Therefore, this day is celebrated as Annapurna Jayanti. Their fasting should be done systematically. Annapurna Mata should be worshiped in the kitchen. Because they are called Annadatri.

Method of worship:

Clean the place of worship and form the square at that place. After completing the square, install a small table there and spread a red cloth on that table and install the idol of Mata Annapurna on it or install the idol or picture in the house which you worship every day. After that, put Akshat below near the table and install the Kalash on it. Add some Ganga water, Akshat, flowers, betel nut, coin and piece of Kalwa etc. in the Kalash and fill it completely with water. Place mango leaves and cover the Kalash with a bowl. Keep Akshat in that bowl and place a ghee lamp on it. Then worship the Mata Goddess properly with fruits, flowers, lamps, incense sticks, incense sticks etc. After the puja, distribute prasad and donate food to the poor and needy.

Fast:

Some people also keep a fast (vrat) on the day of worship of Annapurna Mata, in which they eat food only prepared by a woman and engage in worship and meditation during the fast.

This puja method is normally followed during the worship of Annapurna Mata, but you may also see slight variations in the methods depending on your local traditions and advice of your spiritual guru.

Importance of fasting:

There is no shortage of money and grains in the lives of those people who observe the fast of Mata Annapurna methodically and with full devotion. By fasting on Mata Annapurna, the devotees get the blessings of the Mata due to which their life remains full of food, prosperity and opulence.
