Swami Vivekananda ji was born on 12 January 1863 in Calcutta. According to the Indian calendar, this date was the seventh day of Krishna Paksha of Magh month which falls seven days after the full moon of Pausha month. Therefore, according to the English calendar, his birth anniversary is celebrated on 12 January, but some of his followers also celebrate Saptami Tithi of Krishna Paksha of Magh month as per the date. On his birth anniversary, this day is also observed as Swami Vivekananda Samagam. Swami Vivekananda spoke on various aspects of Indian culture, religion, philosophy, yoga, and humanity, and he propagated his philosophical and spiritual ideas worldwide.
