Shani Trayodashi

"Thirteenth day occurs twice in a month, once during the waxing phase (Shuklapaksha) and once during the waning phase (Krishnapaksha). Each thirteenth day is also observed as the Pradosh Vrat. When the thirteenth day falls on a Saturday, it is referred to as Shani Trayodashi. This is considered an auspicious conjunction."

"Lord Shani is the dispenser of the consequences of our actions, providing favorable results for virtuous deeds and retribution for sinful ones. Making donations to appease Shani is a highly effective way to do so. Therefore, it is recommended to make donations on Shani Trayodashi or every Saturday because charity helps mitigate the effects of our past misdeeds. Saturday donations should particularly target the needy and helpless, including laborers, sanitation workers, and others. Essential items such as food, blankets, money, clothing, and necessities for their children should be given in charity."

"In the waning phase of the Chaitra month, when Trayodashi coincides with the auspicious combination of the Satbhisha Nakshatra and Saturday, it is renowned as 'Maha-Mahavruni'."

"On Trayodashi, the Pradosh Vrat is observed, which involves the worship of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. If you observe the Pradosh Vrat, you can perform the worship and recitations associated with it. To seek the blessings of Lord Shani and ensure his favor, during the evening, after sunset, focus on Lord Shani's meditation and offer prayers for well-being and auspiciousness. It is recommended to make charitable donations of items such as black cloth, black sesame seeds, black blanket, black pencils, black utensils, mustard oil, and similar dark-colored items to deserving recipients."

"Even if you do not observe the Trayodashi fast, it is still beneficial to meditate on Lord Shani and offer prayers for Shani's tranquility during the evening, after sunset. You can also make charitable donations of the mentioned items to seek the grace of Lord Shani."
