Mouni Amavasya Story : -

A Businessman lived in Kashipur. His wife's name was Dhanapati. By the blessing of Prabhu, he had seven sons and one daughter. The daughter's name was Gunavati. The businessman had married all his seven sons. To get his daughter married, Businessman showed his daughter's horoscope to an Acharya. After seeing the horoscope, Acharya ji said that this daughter will become a widow after seven rounds. Hearing this from Acharya, the entire family of businessmen became worried as to whether Gunvati would not be able to get married.

The businessman asked Acharya Ji for a solution to this problem. Then Acharya Ji said that Soma the washerwomen lives on the other side of the sea. If Soma the washerwomen gives the fruits of her accumulated virtues to Gunvati before marriage, then Gunvati will be freed from this defect. Hearing this, the Businessman's youngest son got ready to take Gunvati to Soma the washerwomen. After crossing the seashore, both of them reached Soma and started serving her secretly. Seeing this, Soma asked her daughters-in-law, who is cleaning my room these days? To get appreciation, her daughter-in-law said that I am the one who cleans your room. Soma did not believe. One day Soma secretly saw that these two brothers and sisters were serving her. Pleased with this service, Soma asked his wish. Gunavati and her brother told the whole story to Soma. Pleased with the service, Soma agreed to go with them. After this, Soma came to Kashipur with both. Then Gunavati's marriage started. According to the horoscope, as soon as the seventh round was completed, Gunvati's husband died, and she became a widow. Immediately Soma gave her accumulated virtues to Gunavati as a blessing. As soon as she received the blessings, Gunavati's husband came alive and Soma also blessed Gunavati to remain married for life. When Soma reached her home, she saw that her husband had died at home. Seeing her husband dead, Soma started worshiping Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva without saying anything to anyone. After performing the puja, she observed a fast of silence and took one hundred and eight rounds of the Ficus religiosa (Peepal tree). That day was of Mauni Amavasya. Due to the effect of Mauni Amavasya‘s fast, her husband came back to life.

Mauni Amavasya is considered the day of Saint. This day is very holy and auspicious. Due to the effect of this fast, Kaal Sarpdosh and Pitrudosh also get eliminated.
