Mangala Gauri Fast
All fasts are virtuous, fruitful and give happiness and prosperity. Married women observe fast to attain happiness and good fortune in their married life. The fast observed on all the Tuesdays in the month of Shravan is called Gauri Vrat. Since these fasts are observed on Tuesday, these fasts are called Mangala Gauri Vrat.
Mangala Gauri Vrat is very fruitful for married women. Those women who observe this fast with full devotion and by the grace of Goddess Gauri, they get the best results like unbroken marriage and bright children.
All the problems in the marital life of women who observe fast go away and with the blessings of Mother Parvati, there is no dearth of happiness and wealth in their house. Apart from this, this fast is also a good fast for women who wish to have a child.
Prayer Method
In the month of Sawan, wake up in the morning on Tuesday and do all the daily rituals and wear clean clothes. Sprinkle Ganga water at the place of worship, purify it. Take a stool and spread a red cloth on half of the stool and install sixteen heaps of wheat of Shodash Matrika (the names of 16 mothers are called Shodash Matrika) on it. Spread a white cloth on half of the stool and install the nine planets on the white cloth. Install the idol of Lord Ganesha by placing rice and flowers on one side of the stool on a red cloth. Install an urn filled with water on the right side of the stool. Make a four-faced lamp made of flour and make four wicks with 16 strands each and light them. First of all, worship Lord Ganesha. Offer Roli, rice, vermilion, fruits, dry fruits and sacred thread etc. to Lord Ganesha. After worshiping Lord Ganesha, worship the urn with roli, bandana, rice, fruits, flowers and incense sticks etc. and take a pledge to fast. After this, make Mata Gauri of clay, bathe her with water, milk and curd etc. and install her on a separate stool. Then dress them and decorate them with roli, sandalwood, vermilion, mehendi etc. After adornment, offer 16 types of flowers and leaves to the Mata. Offer all the things like dry fruits, betel nut, clove, mehendi, mirror, comb, bangle etc. to the mother with love (all the things offered should be in number of 16). Worship the Mata with incense sticks, lamps etc. and to get the blessings of Goddess Gauri, meditate on her and pray to her to make your married life happy and maintain family peace. After praying for the blessings of Goddess Gauri, read the story of Mangala Gauri Vrat and perform her Aarti. After completing the story and aarti of Mata, distribute Prasad to all the members of the house and take blessings of the elders of the house. Complete the fast by meditating on Mata Gauri throughout the day and on the second day of the fast, immerse the idol of Mata Gauri in a river or pond and then have food.
Story
Once upon a time, a businessman lived in a city. His name was Dharampal. His wife was very beautiful. His house was full of money and grains. He was happy in every way but he did not have children, hence he became very sad sometimes. As time passed, they were blessed with a son, but the matter of concern was that the son was short-lived. His life was only 16 years. The parents married their son before he turned sixteen. His daughter-in-law used to observe Mangala Gauri fast. Due to which her husband's age became 100 years. With the blessings of mata, her husband's life increased. Therefore, unmarried women can also observe this fast so that they get a suitable groom and their married life becomes happy.
Closing Fast (Udyapan)
The religious activities performed to end any fast are called Udyapan (closing fast). It is very important to close the fast. Without closing fast, the fast is not considered complete. This fast is observed continuously for 5 years (Every Tuesday of Shravan month) for family happiness and fulfillment of wishes. When you observe Mangala Gauri Vrat for 5 years, then close this fast on the last Tuesday of the month of Sawan. For closing fast, on the last Tuesday, perform ritual puja and feed food to 16 women. After this, immerse the idol of Mata in the holy river. In this way your fast is completed due to which Mata Parvati becomes pleased and blesses the fasting women. Those women who observe Mangala Gauri fast in this way and observe it, they attain unbroken good fortune.
Closing Fast Method
After completing Mangala Gauri Vrat, it is very important to perform its closing fast. The worship of closing fast should be done by a qualified Acharya. For closing fast, a pavilion should be prepared by placing four pillars of banana leaves at the four corners of a stool and tying a cover on it. A bowl should be placed on top of the Kalash and the idol of Mangala Gauri should be installed in it. All the wedding items like nose ring, saree etc. should be kept. After that, meditate on Goddess Parvati with a pure heart and perform Havan and worship her by performing the Aarti. After completing the puja, one should give 16 laddus made of flour, suhaag (things used only by married women for makeup) items and some donation as per one's devotion to the mother-in-law and touch her feet.The Acharya who conducts the puja should also be given donation as per capacity.On the day of Closing fast, sixteen women should be served food and kept all the wedding items in the wedding box and should be donated. After donating, you can also eat food yourself.
