The tradition of viewing the moon after Amavasya is called 'Chandra Darshan.' In Hinduism, moon sighting is considered very important. Chandra Darshan holds its own religious significance. On this special day, Lord Chandra (Moon) is worshiped with deep devotion. According to Sanatan tradition, seeing the moon on this day is believed to be highly rewarding. It is also thought to bring good fortune and prosperity.
Worship Method :-
The worship method for Chandra Darshan should be performed according to your customs and traditions, as there is no strict procedure to follow. First, choose the time of the moonrise at night, which can be confirmed by checking the Panchang. Bathe and wear clean, pure clothes. In a peaceful spot, place an idol or picture of Lord Chandra (the Moon) on a white cloth. For the worship, gather pure water, cow's milk, kheer (a sweet rice pudding), incense, a lamp, and white flowers. Purify the worship area with Gangajal, and while keeping your resolve in mind, begin the ritual.
First, offer flowers, water, and milk to Lord Chandra and place the kheer in front of him. Then, according to your customs and devotion, worship Lord Chandra while meditating on his calm and serene form. After the puja, light incense and a ghee lamp, perform the aarti, and offer the kheer as prasad, distributing it to everyone. Finally, pray to Lord Chandra for tranquility, peace, and prosperity in life, asking for mental balance and the receipt of positive energy.
